1. Trips to Disney World or Land? Mr. P and I sometimes think the kids would be into it and then I have nightmares about screaming, hot, sugar-loaded kids carrying around over-priced Tinker Bells. What say you, dear readers?
3. Do you think it's cruel to to disregard gender specific colors for winter apparel? A certain 6 year old lady in my house really dislikes her admittedly boy-specific black boots. But she grows like a weed and Tank will need them next year.
5. Does it make you a granny to snap photos of where you've parked? On the one hand, using your gadgets and gizmos in everyday life screams hipster, but not being able to remember one number and letter might be signs of early aging.

| P1, heck yes! |
6. Settlers of Catan? Mr. P saw a guy wearing a T-shirt the other day said, "Yes, We Catan." With the symbols of the resources below. I don't even know what to say about that. Ok, so if not Settlers of Catan, is there another game you like?
7. Turkey? Is it over-rated? Or am I just crazy? I much prefer chicken and this is why Thanksgiving underwhelms me a bit as a holiday. But maybe I'm alone on this.

Looking forward to your deep insights on all these incredibly deep concepts! Now go visit Jiggity JEn for 7 (x70) more takes. Happy Weekend!

Kathleen!!! Jen linked to your blog...so exciting :)
ReplyDeleteOK to answer your questions:
1) Yes, we loved Disney World and are saving up to do it again. The kids still talk about it all the time and it was two years ago that we went.
2) I cut my boys hair - with clippers, and my daughter and I go to a friend who has a salon in her house.
3) Not cruel at all
4) Fro-hells-yes
5) No, not a granny, just really really smart
6) I don't know what you are talking about. We're an Uno family.
7) Dude, I will never eat turkey. I don't even eat it on Thanksgiving, just the fixins. Chicken is yummy but turkey is gamey.
I know! Shocker!
DeleteAlso I am glad I am not the only Turkey hater...
1. I don't feel qualified to answer! I've never been, so I can't tell you if it was worth it. I can tell you that not going didn't negatively impact my childhood, though. ;)
ReplyDelete2. We sometimes do, sometimes don't. I'm all for whatever makes life easier.
3. Not cruel. Black is chic. ;) Also, "whatever makes life easier"...
4. Fro-no. I'm an ice-creamer for sure. (Although I am tempted to consider it since you pointed out it could mean more sprinkles...)
5. I think it's totally smart, but I'm admittedly probably the wrong person to ask, being 26-going-on-88.
6. Not qualified to answer. Our littles are still too little for this kind of activity (especially considering one is in utero).
7. Turkey! Yes! I love to eat it. I will eat all of the turkeys you do not want to eat.
I keep trying to tell my daughter that black military industrial style boots are in..
Delete1. LAND. We are junkies, love the vintage Disney. If you have never been, seek advice on what to do and not do traveling with a mitt full of kids...
ReplyDelete2. Cut my own boys hairs.
3. After three boys in a row, youngest girl gets the pink and fluffy.
4. Like them both. Equal but not the same.
5. THAT IS BRILLIANT!! I am so late to the party on devices. Oh my goodness, you are never going to trick me again, Ikea parking lot.
6. I don't play board games, but my kids love love Catan and have all the extras.
7. Love turkey. Sometimes cook turkey in the middle of ordinary time just for the thrill of it.
Ok so Disneyland better than Disney World. This is good to know!
Delete1. I grew up 15 miles from Disneyland. It's so much better then DisneyWorld. Make the trip to CA! If you decide to go, I can give you a bunch of tips. We went for 3 days this summer with all 3 kids.
ReplyDelete2. I cut all the hair here.
3. All snow boots are navy blue in my house. They get worn so little, they get passed down. I did buy Dacia a purple snow coat this year, but black snowpants, so those can be passed down.
4. A place just opened by us, we haven't been yet. Too cold.
5. If its a parking lot that I'm not familiar with, I will take a picture. Like the parking lot at Disneyland.
6. What happened to Dominion?
7. Vegetarian here.
1. I'm going with neither. I loved Disneyland as a kid in CA, but now we're on the east coast planning a trip to FL this year with four kids and a pregnant mom. I can't go on the rides, I can't imagine waiting in lines for hours with my kids demanding food every 10 minutes. We're opting for Sea World instead. We've been there before, we all love it, and so much less stress for me.
ReplyDelete3. My 7 year old boy happily wears his sisters purple snow pant cast offs and I'm delighted :)
4. You can get dairy free fro-yo?! I'll have to look into that around here.
5. Not a bad idea, but I'm a granny-like gadget-phobe, so I probably wouldn't myself.
7. Totally overrated.
1. 100 years ago, kids never felt deprived of going to DW or DL, so why should kids today? As long as they have fun every day living in the present moment, they will never miss it. It's about quality time. Spending a lot of money going to these places is not necessary to make a child feel special.
ReplyDelete2. I cut my boys hair until they were 6, 8 and 10. They were no worse for the wear and I saved bucket-loads of $.
3. Shoes were one thing I never passed down because each person's feet are so different. They have to last a lifetime. Pass down everything else, but not shoes.
4. Frozen yogurt? ABSOLUTELY!!! You can make it a not-so-expensive-meal too!
5. Do whatever it takes to remember where you park when you are herding the little kitties. It's only a problem if you forget that you have a record of it in your phone. Then you might worry about losing it. Until then, snap as many photos of your parking spot as you like.
6. Yatzee and Tripoli were our family games.
7. Turkey is o.k. Chicken is better! I'm with Colleen on the fixin's!
BTW, came here through the link from Jen F. She's an awesome lady!
1. Disney World. All the way. Your kids are young enough to just spend a few days in the Magic Kingdom. Forget the other stuff. I am so sad our bathroom exploded and ate our disney fund. Pull your kids out of school and go in April too. No lines!
ReplyDelete2.Umm no. Dad buzzes boy and goes at military installation during work. The end.
3.We have a lot of navy blue to start off, but I have two the same size at the top of different sexes and then two girls in a row. So, I am starting to buy purple boots. But I saw a little boy in purple boots today courtesy of his older sister. (And yes, he was one of six). I demand all black soccer shoes and soccer balls though. All this pink crap (strollers, car seats etc. is from people with 1.2 kids)
4.Is it soy? I am anti soy. Just google up soy/estrogen and you will be too. Otherwise, my kids go crazy for the toppings!!
5.Good idea. Memories don't last forever. I couldn't even remember your 7 questions. But then again, I am a lot older than you! Start doing suduko!
6.Ticket to Ride???? Europe appears better than america.
7.I hate turkey and most thanksgiving food. I would be ok with a ham instead. It is super sad I married a guy who loves turkey for both thanksgiving and christmas. Meh.
6.
ps. whatever you do, don't leave one kid at home.
ReplyDeleteNo kids, so that cuts out a lot of questions. Let's see... #7 Turket is awesome!
ReplyDeleteJust popped over for the first time from quick takes. You don't know me from Eve, but I'll give you opinions anyway. :)
ReplyDelete1. Disney World. I was a hold out. My husband wanted to go from the moment we had our first baby. We went when our kids were 4,5,6, and 8. It was some of the best fun we've ever had. But you really need to research and do it right. We went again five years later, with two younger ones in tow, and had just as much fun.
2. I used to cut their hair myself, but as they get older they want specific cuts. We go in small groups. No way I'll take 6 kids at the same time.
3. There is nothing wrong with gender nuetral. We would just change laces or get girly hats and gloves for her when she was younger.
4. If it's frozen and creamy, I'll eat it. Who wouldn't?
5. Brilliant. For old people especially. :)
6. I've never heard of that game, and we are big fans of most games. Our new favorite is Ticket to Ride for the older kids. The young ones like Uno and Pet Hunt and Monopoly Jr. and basically anything I will play with them.
7. I'll eat it, but I'm not gaga over it.
That was fun! I liked reading everyone's answers. Glad to have found you.
Did Disney with kids once. In France. Grandparents did Disneyland with them a few times. It was totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteThe only winter item that can be gender specific in my home is boots. I buy those new for each kids. Everything else is black, green, yellow, etc. We add hats and scarves in their favourite colours.
Of course this year they haven't worn any winter clothes. We missed the snowy week in Jerusalem.
Jeeze Louis lots of comments today Kath!! I didn't even have time to read them all, but you know I will tell you YES on Disney. Your kids are at good ages so you should do it soon if you can afford it. Also, we love Catan and Jimmy is just learning to play. They both like being on teams. And they have a Catan Junior out now that I might have to check out.
ReplyDeleteoooh, i love all these questions... but i am only answering two. the same two as my sister. yes, for sure on disney. i have never been to world, but love land. no, your kids won't feel deprived having never been, but let me tell you how much fun it is for you to watch them enjoying disneyland. so much fun. now i've told you. and, yes, catan all the way. we have seafarers and cities and knights, also. my kids love all games, but catan definitely is the top pick of our house. ticket to ride is great also, but nothing beats catan.
